The K-DATA UAB (Universal Adapter Board) is a fully programmable engine management solution designed for BMW M38B36 engines, featuring a 55-pin connector that is compatible with the factory engine wiring harness for straightforward installation.

At the heart of the UAB is the powerful Motorola 9S12XEP100 microcontroller, the same processor used in the popular Megasquirt 3 platform, providing the performance and reliability required for both street and motorsport applications. To simplify initial setup, a Tunerstudio base calibration for the BMW M38B36 is available for download from the K-DATA Official Website. A boot loader is loaded on the board, which makes it easy to load the desired firmware via USB.

Compared to previous generations, the enhanced UAB ECU offers significantly expanded functionality and processing power. Users can configure, modify, or completely disable features such as VANOS control, map-controlled thermostats, and electronic cooling fan management to suit the specific requirements of their vehicle.

To further increase flexibility, K-DATA has integrated a dedicated co-processor, enabling advanced functions such as custom CAN Bus communication and Drive-By-Wire (DBW) support. This makes the UAB an ideal solution for engine swaps and custom applications, including projects such as fitting an M54 engine into an E46 chassis while retaining extensive control over engine management functions.
